BLACK PEPPER
Indonesia:
Harvest Season: July to September
- The crop is in the finishing stage, and carry-forward stocks are limited. Prices are expected to remain firm, with potential for further increases in the coming months.
- Farmers are selling gradually and holding back fresh arrivals, limiting market supplies.
- Market remains stable, with prices moving sideways and no significant demand.
- Current prices are in the range of USD 6950/MT for 6.5% piperine.
Sri Lanka:
Harvest Season: April – June. / Dec-Jan
- Light berries season is now over. Arrival from immature harvest has ended with berries maturing.
- Prices have now moved up, from USD 7500/MT to USD 7800/MT, and is further upward, as all major extraction companies are aggressively buying, and there currently limited availability for 9% Piperine material.
Vietnam:
Harvest season: December to February
- It is off-season now.
- Crop was lower than last season.
- Despite this, market sentiment remains bullish due to lower global supply and sustained export demand.
- Price is currently at USD 6,500/MT levels for 6% piperine material.
CAPSICUM:
Harvest Season: December to May
- The new kharif crop is currently in the flowering stage across major producing states such as Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, and Karnataka.
- Excess rainfall in certain growing regions has resulted in waterlogging, affecting crop development in most of the areas.
- Market sentiment remains bullish due to the limited availability of old crop stocks.
- Premium-quality varieties are currently trading in the range of USD – 2800/MT – 3700/MT, depending on factors such as colour, pungency, and overall quality.
PAPRIKA:
Harvest Season: November- April.
- New crop cultivation is currently in flowering stage.
- Considering the significant increase in seed sales, the cultivation area for the upcoming crop is expected to be higher than last year.
- Paprika prices increased by around 3-5% during September and are currently 60-75% higher than the same period last year. The market continues to be supported by tight carryover stocks, limited availability of IPM-grade material, and steady domestic demand.
GINGER:
Harvest Season: December- March
- Harvesting of the new ginger crop has started slowly. Demand for fresh ginger remains strong across domestic markets. Fresh ginger prices are currently in the range of USD 1/kg.
- New-season extraction grade dried ginger is expected to arrive in the market by October.
- Current crop is reported to be in good condition, with production volumes expected to be satisfactory. This is supported by an estimated 30% increase in cultivation area compared to last year, along with the absence of any major adverse weather events during the growing season.
- Market demand continues to strengthen. At present, trade expectations are that prices of extraction-grade dry ginger may decline from the current level of USD 3000/MT to USD 2500/MT levels, once new-season arrivals improve. However, the actual price trend will largely depend on the level of demand in the coming months. With carryover stocks from the previous season nearly exhausted, strong demand could limit any significant price correction.
NUTMEG:
India:
Harvest season: May to August
- Nutmeg harvesting is completed in major growing areas.
- Availability of extraction-grade material is expected to remain limited going forward, and prices are likely to increase in the coming months.
- Prices are mostly bullish ranging from USD 8000/MT due to lower yield.
Indonesia:
Harvest Season: March- April, July – August
- Indonesian nutmeg prices remained weak during the last 2-3 months. Demand was slow from exports and domestic markets.
- Currently prices are slightly increasing because the season is getting over and production is low.
- The prices are expected to be firm if the demand increases.
- Availability of good-quality material from fresh arrivals remains limited.
- Extraction grade BWP nutmeg broken is being sold @ USD 4700MT levels.
CARDAMOM:
Harvest Season: August- November
- Current sales in the market are mostly from the carryover stocks.
- Labour shortage at origin remains a major concern, may affect harvest processing.
- Prices have steeply increased over last few weeks, from USD 23/kg to USD 32/kg, due to demand, and also expectation of a short crop in the coming season.
- New crop harvesting has begun and arrivals are gradually increasing. Less rain received in the high range area has affected the oil yield of the seeds. The initial harvested RM oil yield is approx. 5.8 to 6.5 in lieu of 7 to 7.5%.
- Crop production is expected to be lower than last year, while domestic demand remains strong. Although prices have eased slightly with fresh arrivals, the market remains firm due to tight supplies of quality material. Further price movement will depend on the volume of new crop arrivals during September and October.
CORIANDER:
Harvest Season: March – May.
- Harvest have been completed in major producing states. The current season's crop was lower, and carry-over stocks are also limited.
- Farmers are likely to hold stocks in anticipation of better prices, which may restrict market arrivals.
- Lower availability coupled with increased export demand have increased the price in the market.
- Prices are stable within the range of USD2000/MT from USD1052/mt.
TURMERIC:
India:
Harvest season: February - April
- It is off-season currently.
- As the carry forward stocks were almost nil, whatever is coming to market is instantly picked by grinding and extraction companies.
- Market remains firm with limited availability of premium quality material.
- Crop prospects are supported by good rainfall and adequate irrigation.
- Demand from export, food processing, pharmaceutical, and nutraceutical sectors remains steady, mainly for immediate requirements.
- Extraction-grade finger turmeric is currently priced at USD 2000/MT levels.
- High curcumin turmeric prices are about 20% higher than the same period in 2025.
Vietnam:
Harvest season: February - April
- Harvest season February – April. Prices are high, @ USD 1850/MT levels.
- High-curcumin turmeric and extraction-grade material continue to receive stronger demand compared to standard grades.
Indonesia:
Harvest Season: August- November
- Season is now on, the crop volumes will be lower than the last season, as the area of cultivation has been reducing year-on-year.
- Farmers are migrating to crops like elephant yam and corn, which fetches them better prices.
- Prices are currently at USD 1750/MT levels.
- Price and demand for high curcumin crop is high.
CELERY:
Harvest Season: May- June.
- The crop has been fully harvested and season come to an end. Crop was almost 50% lower than last year. Accordingly, prices also moved up from USD 2/kg prevailed last year, to USD 4/kg currently.
- Prices remain firm due to low stocks, strong demand, and limited fresh supply.
- Although farmers increased planting area for 2026, lower yields caused by unfavourable weather have reduced production
- This has resulted in steep rise in celery oil and oleoresin prices as well. Prices are expected to stay strong this year.
FENNEL:
Harvest Season: February- May
- Season is almost over.
- RM price is at a stable condition, at USD 1500/MT.
- Availability of export-quality green fennel remains tighter this season, particularly premium bold-quality material.
- Crop prices remain higher than last year due to the lower production.
- Carry-over stocks are lower than last year keeps supply tight.
GARLIC:
Harvest Season: March – May.
- Current price for Garlic bulbs is in the range of USD 1500/MT and Garlic flakes in the range of USD 2000/Mt.
- Daily market arrivals remain below peak harvest season levels.
- Current market supplies are being met primarily through inventories held by farmers and traders.
- Although wholesale market arrivals have moderated since the peak harvest period, overall market availability remains adequate.
- Market prices are currently 30–40% higher than the corresponding period last year.
- Market is Expected to remain stable to firm in future.
- Export demand remains moderate, with the market currently driven primarily by domestic demand.
FENUGREEK:
Harvest Season: June-July and October-November.
- Currently price has increased to USD 945/MT from USD 850/MT level.
- Harvest operations are almost complete.
- Crop production is estimated to be 20% lower than last year.
- Market prices are approximately 30% higher compared to the same period last year.
- Limited stock availability and reduced market arrivals are expected to support a gradual increase in prices over the coming months.
ONION:
Harvest Season: January- February, April-June, October -November.
- Current price for Onion RM is stable at USD 570/Mt, and Onion flakes in the range of USD 1900/Mt.
- India’s onion crop condition is currently average to weak due to unseasonal rainfall, heat stress, and storage losses in Maharashtra.
- Domestic demand remains steady, while export demand continues to stay slow due to weaker overseas buying.
- The harvest season is nearing completion, with only limited arrivals remaining in the markets.
- Overall production is estimated to be lower than normal, although the crop quality has remained good.
- Onion prices have increased by nearly 40% compared to the previous season.
- Seasonal arrivals at major mandis continue to decline due to off-season.
- Fresh Kharif arrivals will start from October, which could improve supply availability.
CUMIN:
Harvest Season: February- May
- New crop harvesting is almost over. Cultivation area was 25% lower than last year.
- Despite this, prices have come down marginally, due to very poor demand.
- Major buyers like China and Bangladesh are slow so export demand is slightly weak.
- RM price currently in the range of USD 2700/MT.
