BLACK PEPPER
Indonesia:
Harvest Season: July to September
- Harvesting has started in June in the major growing regions, with peak arrivals expected from August.
- The 2026 crop has been reported to be average. Currently prices are about 5% lower than last year. However, low carryover stocks are providing some price support.
- Market trend will become clearer once peak harvest arrivals begin in August.
- Current prices are in the range of USD 6500/MT for 6.5% piperine. At this price Sri Lanka is more competitive than Indonesia, where price is USD 7600/MT for 9% Piperine RM.
Sri Lanka:
Harvest Season: April – June. / Dec-Jan
- Light berry season is almost over.
- Prices are currently at USD 7600/MT levels, for 9% Piperine material.
- Limited plucking of Light berries and the season almost ending for light berries, a major price reduction is not expected in the near future, considering the very poor demand too.
- Fresh market arrivals have declined, and trading is currently based on available stocks.
Vietnam:
Harvest season: December to February
- It is off-season now.
- Crop was lower than last season.
- Despite this, market sentiment remains bullish due to lower global supply and sustained export demand.
- Price is currently at USD 6,500/MT levels for 6% piperine material.
CAPSICUM:
Harvest Season: December to May
- Season is over, chilli crop is reduced by 30% compared to last year.
- This together with adverse weather conditions, have limited the arrivals and prices moved up substantially.
- Indian colour chilli / extract prices have gone up too high, due to customers preferring more of Indian products currently, and demand has risen since last few months.
- Strong domestic demand, along with quick clearance of cold-storage stocks, has resulted in higher prices in the market.
- Current Teja chilli prices are around 45% higher than the same period in 2025.
PAPRIKA:
Harvest Season: November- April.
- The paprika harvest is complete, and the market is now relying on cold storge stocks.
- Overall production is reported to be lower than last year with reduced crop acreages and lower yield.
- Prices remain firm with good domestic demand from grinders, natural color and oleoresin manufacturers, while the export demand is yet to pick up.
GINGER:
Harvest Season: December- March
- It is off-season now.
- Sowing acreages for next crop have increased and crop establishment across major producing states in India has been reported to be satisfactory.
- Current weather conditions are conducive to crop growth and are expected to support further development.
- Prices remain firm with limited arrivals, from last season carryover stocks.
- Domestic demand from the spice processing and food industry sectors continues to remain steady.
- Nigerian availability of dried ginger is limited as farmers are selling as fresh.
- Price trend is expected to remain bullish as crop acreages have reduced.
NUTMEG:
India:
Harvest season: May to August
- Harvest is progressing across major nutmeg-growing regions.
- Crop output is reported to be lower as dry weather conditions have adversely impacted the yields.
- Carryover stocks from previous season are also limited.
- With lower crop output and lower carryover stocks, prices are expected to firm up once demand picks up.
Indonesia:
Harvest Season: March- April, July – August
- Indonesian nutmeg prices remained stable during the last month with no significant fluctuations.
- Demand was slow from exports and domestic markets.
- Currently prices are slightly increasing because the season is getting over and production is low.
- The prices are expected to be firm if the demand increases.
CARDAMOM:
Harvest Season: August- November
- Current sales in the market are mostly from the carryover stocks.
- Harvesting of the new crop will start by the month of September.
- Labour shortage at origin remains a major concern, may affect harvest processing.
- Prices are expected to increase supported by lower arrivals and increased demand. A clear picture of new crop and price will be received by early August.
CORIANDER:
Harvest Season: March – May.
- Harvest have been completed in major producing states. The current season's crop was lower, and carry-over stocks are also limited.
- Farmers are likely to hold stocks in anticipation of better prices, which may restrict market arrivals.
- Lower availability coupled with increased export demand have increased the price in the market. Price has reached in the range of USD2000/MT from USD1052/mt.
TURMERIC:
India:
Harvest season: February - April
- It is off-season currently.
- As the carry forward stocks were almost nil, whatever is coming to market is instantly picked by grinding and extraction companies.
- Market remains firm with limited availability of premium quality material
- Sowing for the next crop is nearly complete in the major growing regions, supported by good rainfall and irrigation.
- Crop prospects are supported by good rainfall and adequate irrigation.
- Demand from export, food processing, pharmaceutical, and nutraceutical sectors remains steady, mainly for immediate requirements.
- Extraction-grade finger turmeric is currently priced at USD 1,600/MT levels.
- High curcumin turmeric prices are about 20% higher than the same period in 2025.
Vietnam:
Harvest season: February - April
- Harvest season February – April. Prices are high, @ USD 1850/MT levels.
- High-curcumin turmeric and extraction-grade material continue to receive stronger demand compared to standard grades.
Indonesia:
Harvest Season: August- November
- Season is now on, the crop volumes will be lower than the last season, as the area of cultivation has been reducing year-on-year.
- Farmers are migrating to crops like elephant yam and corn, which fetches them better prices.
- Prices are currently at USD1650/MT levels.
CELERY:
Harvest Season: May- June.
- The crop has been fully harvested and season come to an end. Crop was almost 50% lower than last year. Accordingly, prices also moved up from USD 2/kg prevailed last year, to USD 4/kg currently.
- Prices remain firm due to low stocks, strong demand, and limited fresh supply.
- Although farmers increased planting area for 2026, lower yields caused by unfavourable weather have reduced production.
- This has resulted in steep rise in celery oil and oleoresin prices as well. Prices are expected to stay strong this year.
FENNEL:
Harvest Season: February- May
- Season is almost over.
- RM price is at a stable condition, at USD 1500/MT.
- Availability of export-quality green fennel remains tighter this season, particularly premium bold-quality material.
- Crop prices remain higher than last year due to the lower production.
- Carry-over stocks are lower than last year keeps supply tight.
GARLIC:
Harvest Season: March – May.
- Current price for Garlic bulbs is in the range of USD 1160/MT and Garlic flakes in the range of USD 1730/Mt.
- Daily market arrivals remain below peak harvest season levels.
- Current market supplies are being met primarily through inventories held by farmers and traders.
- Although wholesale market arrivals have moderated since the peak harvest period, overall market availability remains adequate.
- Market prices are currently 30–40% higher than the corresponding period last year.
- Market is Expected to remain stable to firm in future.
- Export demand remains moderate, with the market currently driven primarily by domestic demand.
FENUGREEK:
Harvest Season: June-July and October-November.
- Currently price has increased to USD 945/MT from USD 850/MT level.
- Harvest operations are almost complete.
- Crop production is estimated to be 20% lower than last year.
- Market prices are approximately 30% higher compared to the same period last year.
- Limited stock availability and reduced market arrivals are expected to support a gradual increase in prices over the coming months.
ONION:
Harvest Season: January- February, April-June, October -November.
- Current price for Onion RM is stable at USD 570/Mt, and Onion flakes in the range of USD 1198/Mt.
- India’s onion crop condition is currently average to weak due to unseasonal rainfall, heat stress, and storage losses in Maharashtra.
- Domestic demand remains steady, while export demand continues to stay slow due to weaker overseas buying.
- The harvest season is nearing completion, with only limited arrivals remaining in the markets.
- Overall production is estimated to be lower than normal, although the crop quality has remained good.
- Onion prices have increased by nearly 40% compared to the previous season.
- Seasonal arrivals at major mandis continue to decline as the harvesting season comes to an end.
CUMIN:
Harvest Season: February- May
- New crop harvesting is almost over. Cultivation area was 25% lower than last year.
- Despite this, prices have come down marginally, due to very poor demand.
- Major buyers like China and Bangladesh are slow so export demand is slightly weak.
- RM price currently in the range of USD 2500/mt.
